As a Technician you will deal with a wide variety of pests, helping a broad range of customers in the Agricultural, Commercial and Residential sectors.No two days are the same and we are looking for someone, local to the Crieff area, who is able to work independently on their own initiative, and also play an active role working with our Specialist Bird Team.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working both at height and in cramped conditions and we should mention there may be the occasional unpleasant smell or sight to contend with.The technician should have a full clean driving licence and CRB checks will be required prior to any employment.Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Role

  • Reporting to the Service Manager and owner, the Technician’s main role is to provide pest control in the Agricultural, Commercial and Residential sectors
  • Working mostly on their own, the Technician will deal with a wide variety of pests
  • They will ensure their work meets all industry standards including BPCA (British Pest Control Association), CRRU (Campaign of the Responsible Use of Rodenticide) and Food Industry
  • The Technician will manage their own diary, their own list of customers and workload
  • They will help their customers to meet any auditable food standards including SALSA, BRC and SQC
  • The Technician will be able to correctly identify species of pests and implement the correct pest control measures
  • Working in teams, they will also play an active role in the delivery of bird control solutions.

Responsibilities

These include, and are not limited to this list, as follows:

  • Service Client premises through routine visits and inspections
  • Carry out one-off jobs as and when required
  • Use a variety of pest control methods including the use of toxic and non-toxic baits, the use of insecticidal sprays, gassing, and trapping
  • Identify species of pests and implement the appropriate control methods
  • Make recommendations to customers to prevent further infestations, including proofing and alternative pest control methods
  • Complete reports and ensure all customer documentation are up to date
  • Follow the correct procedure for handling and storing pesticides
  • Take ownership of any customer issues and ensure problems are resolved
  • Occasionally work as part of the Specialist Bird Team to deliver bird control – proofing, netting, egg and nest removal etc
  • Achieve additional sales of products and services
  • Commitment to studying for RSPH Level 2 in Pest Management
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Working hours 8.30 am – 5.30 pm Monday to Friday (excluding potential travel time)
  • Inclusion on a Saturday duty rota
  • Overtime may be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Full valid driving licence
  • Full Criminal Records Disclosure

Desirable but not Essential

  • Good understanding of field work
  • Familiar with Microsoft, emails, social media
  • RSPH / BPCA (level 2) Certificate in Pest Control (desirable)
  • IPAF 3a and 3b (desirable)
  • PASMA Certified (desirable)
  • LANTRA Safe Use of Aluminium Phosphide (desirable)

Full training in all aspects of the job will be given to the successful candidate who will be expected to study for the RSPH level 2 in Pest Management
