Bird Control Aberdeen

If you live or work in Aberdeen, you’ll know that Aberdonian gulls are considered so hardcore Aberdeen City Council issued ‘Living with Urban Gulls – The Survivors Guide’.

They can become a real nuisance – damaging property and attacking people – and more and more companies are turning to us for help. We use a variety of bird friendly methods to deter the roosting and nesting of gulls and one of our jobs earlier this year saw us at a site on the Altens Industrial Estate, Aberdeen installing 700 square metres of bird netting across 4 roof areas and under a canopy.

Gulls had been nesting on neighbouring buildings and a bird deterrence system was needed on new build industrial units before the gulls had the chance to consider and move to alternative accommodation. After surveying the affected areas and considering a number of different options, including our bird scaring bio-acoustic system, we decided to install a bird netting system.

Our standard practice involves the use of free-standing custom-made brackets placed on rubber mats and weighted down with paving slabs. This avoids damaging the roof and also means drilling fixings in to the surface of the roof isn’t necessary, eliminating the risk of water ingress.

A system of stainless-steel tensioned wires was then run between the brackets to support a UV stable 75 mm polyurethane net secured using stainless-steel fixings to avoid corrosion. 1 week’s work and 700 square metres later the job was done.

We know that gulls in the wrong location can become a real nuisance and bird control can come in many forms and guises. And if you’ve tried to keep birds from entering or nesting on your premises you’ll know how difficult the task can be.

That’s why we have a range of services that will provide the solution you’re looking for. To find out more or to arrange a visit from our specialist team call us on 0800 0283 703 or complete our on-line contact form.
